back from my break

IM BACK...

After finishing my degree i felt i needed a break from all things educational so havent done any designs or work or anything (something which i now regret). so, yesterday, i started creating some prints to add to my portfolio/ website. i have also been doing 'what i wore today' style postings on instagram but im not sure this is the place to post them so may think about creating a new blog specifically for that.

So here are some of the prints i have created, some for placement prints, some as all over prints. im trying to practice for WHEN (if) i finally get a career job.

this is my favourite variation of this print. i think the background peachy/coraly colour compliments the blue flowers really well and i like the positioning of the roses and think they create an interesting pattern.

here this print happened kind of my accident by layering the print on top of itsself. i like how it looks a bit hap-hazard and something isnt quite right.

this print was where i decided to colour the roses in blue, an unusual choice, but i think it works well as they come across as more bold and vibrant, meaning the background doesnt have to be too fussy.

this print was my starting point, but i think it looks like a kind of 'colour-me-in' style pattern, which i think could work well in some areas.

MORE EXPERIMENTS TO COME....

exhibition

ive been working on some poster designs for our arts week exhibition at uni, ive tried a few different options which i will show to my tutor tomorrow for her opinion

here are some of my options:
i think this one needs to be more than just portfolio boards, i think the border needs to be thinner. i do still like this image but think a different design would be be effective.

i think this one  looks a bit empty, i like the larger image idea, but feel there needs to be some more imagery on the page to add a different element to it.
this one is a mix of the two images above, i think it is a good combination of both, showing all the work i can do and mixing the two ideas from my two tutors.

graduate fashion week

i have to condense my portfolio into 40 pages for graduate fashion week. i also need to add some other elements into my pages to showcase all of the things i have learnt over the past 3 years, this all has to be done by tuesday, so wish me luck.
heres some of my diesel pages i have squeezed into 4 pages instead of 12

i also have amended my customer profile, changing the size of text and the font and adding more contextual images.

some further alterations:

exciting

ive been contacted by a recruiter about a job for a supplier to arcadia, river island etc, very exciting, theyve asked me to create a range board for one of the brands around the woven/denim area. ive started one outfit, which i think i could see in Topshop. here it is:

photography

while working on my portfolio, i realised i had not put in much primary research, a lot of the imagery i have used for research is found. i have taken some photographs and edited them, linking them to my colour palette and theme by changing the colours and contrast. here are some of the photographs:

the tulips in the photos below were originally red, i edited the colours to tie them in with my fairytale forest collection.

new pages

i have been experimenting with different graphic layouts to go into my portfolio. i am quite pleased with the outcomes as i think they lift my work to a new level, making it more interesting.
